简单算了一下,按照BE-4地面推力250吨双机并联、地面比冲320s毛估,如果要工作180s以上。Atlas现有芯一级储箱至少要延长25%以上,不知道发射设施能否兼容。考虑到通用上面级的升级,外形大变,改叫Atlas 6才是名副其实。

LNG密度比煤油小很多,即使真空比冲能做到370秒以上,也没办法,可以说发射设施肯定的改装,而上面级目前来看短期没法用ACES,还会继续半人马,总之就是ATLAS v快到头了,EELV还得继续,而且他们还希望推出新宇宙神3核心重型火箭

不能单看一种推进剂,要看组合密度,液氧甲烷推进剂组合密度约为液氧煤油的80%。BE-4是富氧不然循环,组合密度还会更高一点。
Atlas大改肯定是免不了,就看是否会继承5的3.8米箭径,相关发射设施是改造就行,还是需要推倒重来。

关键是直径可能保持不变,助推芯级必须重新设计,至于发射设施,包括勤务塔,发射台,等大改是必须的,如果上CBC重型,恐怕要打掉重练了

直接沿用3.8米直径,缩短点搞单机就好了,搞个5CCB的重型和一个3CCB的中型

目前为止也没确定方案就是双发动机,到底什么样还不知道,其实如果真弄5CBC会让现有发射服务设施全部报废,而且整个型谱都要推倒重来,会更麻烦,就看对这个NEW ATLAS美国人会怎么决定了

本人认为会是一款最类似atlas V 构型的火箭

搞短一点还不如回去使用宇宙神3的3.05米箭体,一款230吨起飞质量的轻型火箭取代德尔塔2,3CCB构型取代宇宙神5 551,5CCB构型就没必要了。

恩,双BE-4,5米径比较合理。
保持适度长径比的i情况下,一级可以工作200s以上,基本保持Atlas5的时序。

CCP开发状态报告:
1。扩充与NASA的太空行动协议到2015年,增加3个里程碑。
2。刚过去的9月份,完成一个中期评审里程碑。

Blue Origin to Begin New Shepard Flight Tests Later This Year

Blue Origin plans to begin flight tests of its reusable suborbital New Shepard vehicle later this year from its West Texas facility, President Rob Meyerson said today.
The company also announced that it had completed acceptance testing on the BE-3 hydrogen engine that will power the suborbital capsule. The company said the engine has been fired for more than 30,000 seconds during 450 tests.
Meyerson said the BE-3 is now available on the commercial market for other uses. The company also has plans to develop an upper-stage variant called the BE-3U.
The BE-3 engine is the first new hydrogen-powered rocket motor to be developed in the United States in more than a decade. It is a reusable engine that can be throttled for powered vertical landings, Meyerson said.
New Shepard is a suborbital vehicle capable of flying three or more astronauts and scientific payloads. The booster stage takes off and lands vertically using the BE-3 engine. The New Shepard capsule lands under parachutes.
New Shepard can be flown autonomously. Meyerson said the company will fly the vehicle dozens of times before putting test pilots aboard.
Blue Origin hopes to get dozens if not hundreds flights out of each New Shepard vehicle, allowing people to experience space travel. The company is using the suborbital flights as a test bed for an orbital crewed system.
Occupants will have about four minutes of weightlessness on a suborbital flight that will last less than 15 minutes, he added. New Shepard will fly above the Karman line of 100 km (62.1 miles), which is the internationally accepted boundary of space.
Blue Origin is still several years away from selling tickets for New Shepard suborbital flights, which will fly from the company’s West Texas location.
Meyerson also said Blue Origin’s larger BE-4 engine would begin full-scale tests in 2016, with plans to compete testing the following year. United Launch Alliance (ULA) plans to use the engine in the first stage of a new booster it is developing.
Congress has ordered ULA to end its dependence on Russian-built RD-180 engines for the Atlas V launch vehicle by 2019. Meyerson said the BE-4 will be ready at least two years prior to any U.S. alternative.
The company has been conducting sub-scale BE-4 tests involving the engine’s fuel injector and power pack, Meyerson said. Those tests have been on-going for months.
For its future orbital operations, Blue Origin has been looking at potential locations in several states, including Florida, he added.
The company also has continued a commercial crew agreement with NASA on an unfunded basis. Blue Origin has three additional milestones to complete.

KENT, Wash. – Blue Origin recently completed acceptance testing of its BE‑3 rocket engine, the first new hydrogen engine to be developed in the United States in more than a decade. The 110,000-lbf BE‑3 will power Blue Origin’s New Shepard suborbital system, and later, will be modified for upper stage applications.

"The BE‑3 has now been fired for more than 30,000 seconds over the course of 450 tests,” said Jeff Bezos, Blue Origin founder. “We test, learn, refine and then test again to push our engines. The Blue Origin team did an outstanding job exploring the corners of what the BE‑3 can do and soon we’ll put it to the ultimate test of flight.”

The BE‑3 can be continuously throttled between 110,000-lbf and 20,000-lbf thrust, a key capability for vertical takeoff and vertical landing vehicles. The testing profile included multiple mission duty cycles, deep throttling and off-nominal test points.

“Liquid hydrogen is challenging, deep throttling is challenging and reusability is challenging," said Bezos. “This engine has all three. The rewards are highest performance, vertical landing even with a single-engine vehicle and low cost. And, as a future upper stage engine, hydrogen greatly increases payload capabilities.”

The BE‑3 engine was designed and fabricated at Blue Origin’s design, development and production facility in Kent, Wash. Full-engine testing was conducted at the company’s facilities in West Texas, while earlier combustion chamber testing was completed at NASA’s Stennis Space Center in Mississippi.

The BE‑3 is the third generation of Blue Origin-developed engines. The fourth-generation BE‑4 uses liquid oxygen and liquefied natural gas (LNG) to produce 550,000-lbf thrust at sea level.  Under development since 2012, the BE‑4 provides the lowest cost and fastest production path to power the nation’s access to space. Selected by United Launch Alliance to serve as the primary propulsion provider for its Next Generation Launch System, Blue Origin is developing the BE‑4 as an integrated part of America’s newest launch vehicle.

跟YF77一个量级,但是节流能力很强大,1:5。不知道YF77能否节流。

大范围的推力调节能力,主要是为飞返回收用的吧

从之前的报道看,BE-3用的似乎是开式膨胀循环的一个变种,类似J-2S。Edit:应为抽气循环,主燃烧室燃气分流驱动涡轮泵,和J-2S一样
The design is based on the combustion “tap-off” engine cycle, sometimes known as the “topping cycle” or chamber-bleed cycle, in which the combustion gases from around the walls of the main chamber are bled-off, partially cooled and used to power the engine's turbopumps.

Blue Origin says the cycle, which produces a relatively high specific impulse, is simpler than options such as pre-burning staged-combustion, and is well suited to human spaceflight because of its single combustion chamber and “graceful” shutdown mode. Despite the challenges of the cycle—including potentially complex start-up systems and high-temperature turbine-drive gases—Meyerson explains, “It is different because it only uses the one combustor, so it has a tendency to shut down rather than feed the combustion process.” Although Rocketyne developed the experimental J-2S tap-off variant of the Saturn V upper-stage J-2 engine in the 1960s, Meyerson says the BE-3 is the first engine of its type developed to fly.
